I really really want a dime each time I hear this in a day! Rex is on a rampage of asking questions. Bedtime stories are now just a labeling exercise. In 5 minute intervals you will hear some what intelligible "What's that?" or "What's name?" So very very cute the first 2-3 days and excited to teach the little guy but now I just go with "I don't know"

I had to shape Bruce's smile
I'll admit it....taking good pictures comes much easier to Rex than Bruce. So I started to go through pictures and to try to figure out what this kid was doing to take such bad pictures. Easy enough it's his stiff fake smile.
So I've been prompting him "little smile" or "little little smile" to "baby smile with your eyes open"...with a little work he will be back in the game for pictures that can be sent to family and friends!
Observe the contrasts below!:)

Sometimes I'm a sucker and I will buy whatever is COOL for my kids!
During my cyber monday fiasco I started by looking for gifts for loved ones and friends, which led to boots for myself, that led to Uggs, which led to Emu, which led to Emu's Little Creatures Collection. So after convincing myself that their feet have grown and that they would be cold without these I made the purchase.
Anyways they are waterproof, soft, cozy, and cute and my child's feet will NOT freeze in California!

Pie for Breakkfast...
Well, what can I say sometimes you are so tired you just have to make it through. Luke made the call and decided to serve the boys pie for breakfasts on Thanksgiving. In our defense they are healthy and well developed.

We don't say "hate"...
When I was pregnant with Bruce one of the discussions Luke and I had was about how we didn't want him to be negative (although he is oppositional). We agreed that we did not like the word "hate". So we used alternatives, "I don't like... or it's not my favorite"
Well, one goal hit as parents thus far....Bruce generally says "It's not my favorite" when things come up that he does not like! Now I need to knock on some wood, cause it is more pleasant in tantrums to hear "it's not my favorite" vs. "I hate..."
Everyone's perception is different, even when it happens right in front of you!
I guess I started thinking about this cause I was watching a documentary on O.J. Simpson and the different perceptions people had even with information put forth to them. (I have no opinion whether he did it or not.)
On Monday, morning when I dropped Luke off at the Alameda ferry for work with the boys, Bruce was very "angry" with me. Luke gave the very upset Bruce a extended good-bye and Bruce begged to go to work with him. Well, after shutting the door and giving Luke a good-bye kiss and driving away. Bruce let me know that he was "very very angry with me". When I asked him why, he said "cause I pushed Daddy on the boat".
Uhmmm.... no I didn't, he saw me kiss him good bye and we drove away.
It brought to my attention that sometimes we see what our emotions see.
Interesting, for me it makes eye witness testimony questionable.:)

Ween!
Happy Halloween! Well, Luke came home early to set off the trick or treating event for the boys. Rex wasn't really sure at the start what was going on and Bruce had a very slight recall of last year. I thought it was going to be a disaster since Bruce kept taking his cowboy costume off and he was upset that the gun his Grandma Orange (Luke's mom/mother-in-law) sent didn't have working bullets. We even had to do a u-turn back to the apartment so that he could use the bathroom.
Well 2 houses in and the boys saw the reward for saying "Trick or Treat"...Well Rex, cut it short to "Ween" for Happy Halloween!
It was great fun for the boys but even more fun for Luke to implement his strategy of emptying their buckets so each house would drop a handful of candies in their empty buckets. Rex would just repeat between houses "Door, door, door" and point to his next destination.
Well the response was good this year to the cute Lukas cowboys! Can't wait till next year!
Can you turn my screamers up?
This weekend Bruce was sitting on the couch next to his Tia Selma....both on ipads.
He's pushing the side button and started saying "Can you turn the screamers up?" I of course am only conversational in 3-year old lingo..."What, what?" Bruce would only repeat himself "Turn the screamers up?" I finally was able to translate when he said "I can't hear my screamers."
I get it he meant "speakers"
